Gardiner Architects is committed to reducing the impact of design and construction on our environment.

We believe sustainable design is based in a relational design approach, where the built outcome is seen as an integral part of its environment, both physically and socially. The building has a basic function of shelter and climate control and has an organic relationship to the elements and should react accordingly.

A variety of technologies may be utilised to achieve a good result. We strive for an integrated solution that includes passive and active systems and the form of our buildings is often generated from the notion of controllable northern sun, light and prevailing winds.

Many measures can be implemented without additional expense to the overall cost of the works, and many deliver longer term savings through reduced energy costs.
